GARANTโ† Guide

The right way to store receipts and warranty documents

Warranty claims most often fail not because of the fault, but because of the paperwork: the receipt faded, the box was thrown out, the email can't be found. Storing documents is a five-minute habit that saves hours years later.

Don't trust paper: digitize the same day

Thermal receipts fade within months; paper invoices tear and get lost in moves. Photograph the receipt on the day you buy; download the PDF if it's an e-invoice. 'I'll do it later' is exactly how these things disappear.

Keep three things together

A product's file should hold three items: the proof of purchase (receipt/invoice), a photo of the product itself, and the purchase date plus warranty length. Add the serial number and you'll never dig for it when opening a service ticket.

The one-place rule

If some documents live in email, some in a drawer and some in your photo gallery, you won't find them when it counts. Keep everything in one place and repeat the same routine with every purchase. That's exactly what GARANT is for: product, receipt photo and expiry date sit on one card, and the data never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to keep the boxes?

Boxes aren't required for warranty claims, but some sellers want them for returns and they add resale value. At minimum, photograph the serial-number label on the box.

Is an e-invoice enough, or should I print it?

An e-invoice alone is enough โ€” and it doesn't fade. What matters is being able to reach the file in seconds on the day something breaks.

How long should I keep the documents?

At least the warranty period plus one year; for expensive products, for the product's whole life. Stored digitally, that costs you nothing.

Is it safer to back up warranty documents to the cloud, or keep them on my phone?

Both together work best: the cloud saves you if you lose your phone, a local copy saves you if you have no signal. Apps like GARANT that keep data on the device already pair the receipt photo with the date on one card, so there's no separate backup to manage.

Track it with GARANT. Save your products with their receipts and get notified before the warranty ends. Free, offline, no account.
